"provide a more secluded for us to enjoy close to the house that will add structure to the garden and provide a link to existing vegtable gardens and orchard".

Garden Condition:
 
The area to be developed was a plain patch of lawn to the rear of this period farm house situated between an existing vegtable garden and the main gravel driveway to the rear of the property.
 
With a south facing aspect over surrounding fields the area lay upon layers of old farm yard rubble with very little top soil.

 

 
 
 
Finished Garden:
 
 
The use of a Pergola running the length of path and a newly constructed feature brick wall brought height into the garden and helped create division from existing vegetable garden.

The use of brick edging allowed all aspects of the garden to be connected and for the gravel driveway to be incorporated within the scheme.

Where possible original features (for example, an old feed trough was made into a water feature) from around the farm were utilised to keep the garden tied to its surroundings.
